I am more or less at a beginners level. I grew up with Italian speaking family members and took 2 years of Italian in college. I am currently finishing the third level of Rosetta Stone for Italian.
I have a very specific need: I have exactly one month to study for an Italian translation test. While the test is not very difficult, I have already failed it once and it is very important that I pass it this time.
Alth ough I would like to learn as much Italian as possible (and would consider continuing lessons after the test!) for now I am looking to pass a TRANSLATION test (Italian to English).
I am willing to spend quite a bit of time on this (meet several times per week).

My name is Sean Manalo, and I am a 16 year old junior at Irvington High school in Fremont,CA. When school resumes in the fall, I will continue a third year of learning French. However, I am looking for a fun and interesting teacher to teach me more of either the GERMAN or ITALIAN language.
My family and I went to Europe in the summer of 2006, and I fell in love with the people and culture of both Germany and Italy and want to expand my understanding of these wonderful countries by learning German and/or Italian. Upon returning to the US, I bought some books to help me learn grammar and converations; but, learning on my own without proper instruction adn guidance proved too difficult, so here I am looking for someone to help instruct me for 1 or 2 hours after school or on the weekends some times this exciting language for the remainder of my high school career. Some time in the future, I would like to also take up Russian but for now, focusing on learning either of these two languages and continuing school classes of French would be extremely helpful in my future aspirations to hold a position in the State Department. At some point, I would like to be fluent in any of the languages I want to learn.
I am very sure that all the teachers available on this site are highly qualified to teach their languages, so I think choosing the right person for my classes comes down to someone I feel comfortable with. I would like a person who is friendly and patient, but at the same time motivating and organized who can really help me get to a proficient level of understanding before I go to college in less than a year and can possibly prepare me for the SAT subject tests and AP test. I'm energized and ready to learn, and I really will do my best efforts in to learning this language.

I'm a beginner. I speak chinese, so I understand the concept of tone.
I'm learning Thai because language itself intrigues me and I have many Thai friends in Bangkok and Chiang Mai that I'd like to surprise with a basic understand when I go in 8 months.
Un derstanding the grammar of a language is very helpful so i can piece it together...bu t practice is the most important.
Willing to dedicate 3 hours a week in class and I will do my own studying outside of the classroom. I'm very busy but will make the effort.
Looking for a teacher who is patient and not going to sit in a class and do listen and repeat sessions. I expect more work on conversation than anything else.
