My Husband's family emigrated from Croatia to Luxembourg before he was born, he has basic understanding of the language and wants to improve his abilities. I would be a true beginner. I would like to be able to converse with his family and he would like be proficient to travel and converse. He speaks 5 other languages (English, French, Luxembourgish , German and some Spanish) he is very adept at picking up new languages. I have a basic understanding of Spanish but am not as quick at learning languages as he. We would love to work with someone directly to learn as quickly as possible.

I am a beginner but I think I will learn quickly as I have a basic understanding for Romanian. My parents are Romanian and I've been listening to it all my life, but as no one directly spoke to me in the language I am unable to speak having a limited vocabulary and no concept of grammar.
I would like to learn the language because when I visited Romania for my first time with my family last summer I felt that I was losing a lot by not being able to communicate with people.
My family is organizing another trip this summer and this time I would like to be prepared.
The areas I would like to focus on to begin with are definitely conversation and grammar but I also would like to develop a good vocabulary. I'd really like to be able to engage in intelligent conversation with people.
I would like to dedicate 3 to 5 hours per week for as long as it takes. I'm looking for someone who is passionate about teaching, and whose methods work well for me.

1. Proficiency: Very Basic Beginner. Possess a small vocabulary. Grew up in a German neighborhood in NYC, where I heard much German spoken, including from my grandmother. I learned to count in German (through the thousands) at a young age.
2. I'm an amateur photographer, and I like to travel to Germany, take great shots; I want to spend more time on my trips talking with the people, who I find quite interesting.
3. I am also quite interested in German culture and history, and an understanding of the language will assist my studies.
4. I am spending a few weeks in Bavaria and Franconia next Fall; I would like to spend at least 10 hours a week studying German for preparation.
5. Qualities: I would like patience but at the same time, I must be pushed to keep improving to the point where I can have some rewarding German conversations in Germany. I require some flexibility with hours because I work full-time, and classes could be moved as a result of unavoidable events at work. Understandabl y, it would help if a class cancellation and rescheduling policy that is satisfactory to both parties could be agreed upon.
6. Particular improvement: Grammar (the different cases), prepositions and plurals (etc.), common verb tenses, useful vocabulary to make small talk.
