I am a beginner, in fact I do not know one word in Nyanja. I would like to learn the language as I plan on conducting either research work or work with an NGO in Zambia for at least one year. Conversation and a basic familiarity with the language is key. I would like to dedicate several hours a week to this study for the next eight months. My wife and I will be going to France on a vacation in January 2008. I have been to France twice before. I learned some very basic phrases such as greetings. I would like to learn more so that I can better order at restuarants, communicate with hotel staff and to have some conversations with French people that we meet. My wife is busy studying and won't be able to take lessons with me.
