I am determined to learn to speak arabic well, my dad's family are from jordan and speak arabic but they do not want me to learn. I am 22 years of age. The reason I want to learn is because the beauty and the mistery of it call me, it's in my blood and I would love to visit my ancestry, my roots in Jordan. I would like to communicate, plus, I speak perfect spanish, write and read it, the same with english, and ultimately I would love to learn arabic because also in a professional level, a person that knows more than one language is also worth more than one. I'd love to read it perfectly where I can actually pick up a book and understand it.
Help, please?
The quality my teacher should have is really be patient with me because I do not learn all at once, and at the same time, I am not that young and Im also going to school for computer science (start classes in january 2008), as I also work as a technician engineer for gateway computer in the technical support department and that job is absorbing. :)

I have no previous experience with Arabic, though I have been interested in both language and culture for some time. I want to devote whatever time is necessary, within reason. I do have a job in which my hours are flexible though not always the same. I am looking for a cheaper option due to minimal funds, so a group class would be preferred. As far as my professor is concerned, I learn best under discussion-ba sed tutoring. However, I am adept at many different styles of learning.
