For someone who's just picked up conversationa l Punjabi by listening to family discussions, with no formal training/educ ation at all - I'm not bad...I can speak, get my point across, and understand conversations . I could kind of read it at one point also.
I am am American of Indian descent, Punjabi to be exact, and I want to improve my language skills. I would like to become more fluent and proficient, as I would like to pass the language on to my children. As it is now, my husband speaks NO Punjabi, and the only time I speak it is with my grandmother who speaks no english.
I think it's a matter of brushing up skills and understanding verb usage, really! I think my vocabulary is so-so...but my grammar, I think needs major help.
I can dedicate a few hours a week to language lessons, depending on cost.
I am looking for a supportive teacher, who will explain grammar in an easy-to understand way...in the past it has always been hard for me to practice Punjabi with my cousins, as they always made fun of the 'angrezi' trying to speak Punjabi.
