I am a beginner in all languages except Spanish and Engilsh. I am trying to learn as many languages as possible before college. After I graduate high school, I plan to earn a degree in Spanish but speak many other languages. I am willing to spend as much free time outside of my schooling hours to learn a language. Skill level: Advanced Beginner
I took 2 years in high school and have been taking lessons again for the last 2 years. I still consider myself a beginner as I haven't made that much progress with my current teacher / approach.
Motivatio n: Professional Career
I work for an American technology firm with many locations in Germany as well as many customers in Germany. I travel to Germany fairly often. My boss, as well as several colleagues are German. My company is paying for my German lessons.
Areas in Need of Improvement: All
I can understand about 1/3 of what I read or hear. I can speak only very basically and struggle with grammar and vocabulary. My exposure to the language is now fairly broad, but I need to get more solid. I need a steady building block approach. Right now I am getting too broad of an exposure.
Time Committment: 5 hours / week
Current ly I spend about 4.5 hours per week in 1-1 sessions with a tutor and spend about 1/2 hour outside on assignments. This is realistically all I can afford to invest at this time.
Desired Teacher Qualities
I am interested in someone who knows how to teach a language and is not simply skilled in German. My current tutor has excellent language skills and knowledge but is not experienced in sound teaching methods.
As I will be investing a fairly large amount of time in this, I would also look for someone who is pleasant to deal with.
Other
My original thinking was that teaching would be done in person at my worksite. I still believe this would make the most sense, however, I see that there are other approaches such as text chat, voice chat, etc. I would be interested in seeing how these work if someone has positive experience using these types of approaches.

I have studied Hindi on my own and attended a class at Stanford. I am still a beginner.
I want to learn Hindi because I travel every year to HP and am working with a small group of Indian women who are Buddhist nuns and trying to learn English. I like to be able to speak enough survival Hindi to get around.
I' d like to spend most of my time in conversation.
I need to be able to practice on my own so I need some multimedia training. I am over 50 and learning a new language is very difficult. I can read Hindi but handwritten Hindi is very hard to read.
