I am an international sales training consultant. Just finished a project in Madrid and had to have simultaneous translators. Recognizing that I won't be able to train in Spanish for a number of years, I am a beginner and want the ability to at least converse in Spanish at lunch/dinner and to understand it. I have language aptitude...wa s fluent in French after 8 years of high school and college, and studied Russian for 3 years in college finishing by writing a 10 page report on Chekov's Three Sisters in cyrillic script!
I have a problem rolling my R's. I'm looking for someone who can help me master that and then move forward with grammar and vocabulary. I can devote at least 1 hour a week in person and probably 1 hour a week by phone. I have lots of time to study on airplanes to my national and international consulting assignments. I have a laptop and can play language CDs in my hotel rooms. I have attempted learning Spanish 2 times...one by CDs only and one in a class format that met on Saturdays...b ut my travel schedule picked up and I was usually returning on Saturdays so had to drop out. I think I will learn best in a one-on-one situation. I have no problem spending $25/hour for an in person lesson.
I also get many 'hits' to my website from South America and I would eventually like to be able to respond to those consulting opportunities .
