I am a former Spanish/Engli sh bilingual teacher. I have lived and traveled in Latin America. I quit working 3 1/2 years ago when my first child was born and, to my dismay, I am losing my spanish due to lack of use.
I want to regain proficiency in all aspects of the spanish language, and then to build on and improve that fluency.
M y ultimate goal would be to study written translation and oral interpretatio n, and to someday work in those fields.
I need a teacher who can help me achieve these goals.

I am looking for lessons for my son Zach. He is 13 years old and a 7th grader at a Catholic school in a Chicago suburb. He has been interested in the Japanese culture for years now. He reads books about Japan, fact and fiction all the time, has bought Japanese music CD's and has even purchased Japanese language CD's with his own money. He's a very good student, always on the honor roll and testing in the top 2% of kids nation wide in his age group. He would love to learn Japanese and I would love to be able to give him the chance to try.
A lot would depend on the location of the teacher and the days available to teach. I'm a single mother who works full time so it would be a matter of my being able to get him to a lesson each week. I do want the lessons in person, I think this would be the best way for him to learn rather then any of the other options. I do like the idea of a teacher native to Japan since he is so interested in the whole culture and not just the language but would be very open to any teacher who could teach him Japanese and maybe give him a little more insight into their culture.
I guess the best scenerio for us would be one lesson a week and take home work for him to work at on his own until the next lesson.
