I am looking to learn Tagalog. My language level should be set at beginner, although I have tried learning with some self teach books and picked up some phrases here and there. My wife is Filipino and my aim is really to be able to speak with relatives when we go over there (we are visiting at least once a year). Having learnt several languages in the past I would say I am fairly comfortable with grammar but my real weakness lies in spoken and listening (so active skills) parts of the language. Amount of time really depends on the flexibility of the tutor and the pricing of the lessons but generally I was thinking of maybe 2 hrs a week to start and see how we go from there. Teacher needs to be fairly flexible as I work long hours sometimes and cannot always make a lesson at a set time (although I try as far as possible).

Im a beginner. My girlfriend is Filipina and she move back to Manila soon, i need to learn language to find job and communicate with her relatives once i move with her. I am beginner, so i need improvement in everything. Not sure how much time yet, i am not sure how easy it will come to me. I will try hard to learn, i am not sure when and where lessons will take place and how it will conflict with my work schedule.
