My wish is to learn Tagalog so that I may be able to communicate with native speakers in the Philippines. My daughter is one-half Filipino; I would like to encourage her to learn as much about the culture and peoples of the Philippines as possible so that one day we may visit this country and be comfortable in our ability to communicate. I am a beginner and have been studying some Tagalog on the Internet. I will dedicate as much time as possible in learning the language, as it is my wish to also teach my daughter to speak Tagalog. I believe it is best to begin teaching her Tagalog now, so it is easier for her to learn. I need a teacher who can be patient with me as I learn, someone who is interested in helping my daughter and me understand the Tagalog language, as well as the culture and attitudes of native Filipinos. I greatly appreciate any response to my request!

I am continuing my study of Tagalog after living in the Philippines from 2003-2005. I intend on advancing my understanding to pass a University exam and for a job as a court translator. I have good conversation skills but need a fuller understanding of advanced grammar (I say things the way they sound best from learning through conversation, I don't really understand the grammar rules behind them). I am willing to spend 2-4 hours a week on lessons.
