I am coming to the Philippines this summer and want to study Tagalog. I have never studied it before but want to study it for interest/educ ational reasons. I would like to do about an hour a day in a casual setting like a cafe, library, etc. thanks.

I am hoping to begin learning Tagalog while I finish my undergrad studies in Boston in the next 13 months.
My primary reasons for wanting to learn are 1) aesthetic - I find Tagalog to be a beautiful-sou nding language. I would love to be able to not only speak, but also write music in Tagalog; and 2) I am considering doing missions work in the Phillippines in the next few years, and would like to be at least familiar, if not fluent, in Tagalog for that purpose.
I am hoping to devote up to 6 or 8 hours (including independent preparation, aside from lessons) per week to my study of Tagalog.
I am looking most of all for a teacher who is personable and patient.
