I am looking for a native Icelander to teach me Icelandic. My boyfriend is from Iceland and I will be visiting his family with him over Christmas. I purchased a set of CD's to learn some of the basics, but I find the pronunciation very challenging and have trouble distinguishin g some of the sounds spoken on the CD's. I am an absolute beginner and at this point am looking for simple introductory lessons, mainly to enhance my experience over Christmas. My boyfriend lives long-distance and is rather shy about teaching me, so I thought it would be nice to get lessons. I'd like a conversationa l teacher to help me with the alphabet, 'small talk', and basic grammar. I'd be available to meet once or twice a week until Christmas. After that, we'll play it by ear.

I have a double degree in economics and journalism, and would like to practice both of these professions there, but feel learning Icelandic is a must for success.

Hi! I'm a 19 yo indonesian male student currently studying in Rome. I have been learning Icelandic alone with self-teach books for a year on and off. I would consider myself as a beginner in Icelandic. I am planning to do a study abroad to Iceland in around 2 years. I have a good sense of Icelandic grammar. I need mostly to build up my vocab and converse in Icelandic. I am very dedicated to learn it, but I consider my schooling as my priority. I am not looking for a certain quality, that the teacher has. He/she does not have to be a native, but a well speaker of the language. I would prefer having a class or get privately tutored; I'm not too sure about doing it online. Thank you!
