Now that I’m an adult and have completed my studies, I finally have the time to learn another language. Hello. I'd like to move to Iceland, or at least visit. I hope to become proficient in the language before I get there. Right now I am a beginner, using Google Translate in my attempts to learn. I'd like to be able to read well, and converse adequately to get my basic thought across. I like to know the roots of words, and the subtle differences between words that mean almost the same thing. And of course voice is important, I need to know how the language actually sounds. I'd like to take my time learning gradually, but have a thorough understanding at the end. Maybe a tutor who can devote as much time/energy to it as an average college course, over several semesters. I would be taking a college class if I could find one. Lastly, I would appreciate someone affordable. I'm only on SSI, I can't pay as much as I'd like to for a proper learning experience. But I am serious about this, I'll do what I must to make it work.

I am a beginner looking to learn Icelandic. I have visited Iceland various times in the past - and will be returning there in November 2017 - and have always felt such a connection with the country and its people. I find Icelandic to be such an ethereal and dulcet language and I would consider it such a privilege to be able to speak it. This coupled with the fact that I would like to be able to return to Iceland at least every year or so in the future has prompted me to want to learn the language.
Being a complete beginner, I will require a teacher who can assist me with learning all aspects of the Icelandic language - grammar, conversation, etc. I would be willing to dedicate a couple of nights per week to lessons and learning
I have some experience with speaking basic Russian, Italian and German.
I would like a teacher who is friendly, open and passionate about the language they are teaching. They will provide honest feedback and encouragement .
