I am learning Tagalog for my research thesis. I am a beginner, but a heritage speaker and am trying to find a teacher who can accommodate teaching me at a fast pace. I tend to pick up languages quickly, and I all ready speak Indonesian and Chinese.
I definitely need improvement in all areas- I have problems starting a conversation in Tagalog. I would likely start as a complete beginner, but I tend to move quickly through grammar and lessons. I like to learn a lot of vocabulary and would be interested in doing drills after a grammar lesson. I prefer to use Tagalog exclusively and would be interested in doing a language pledge of only speaking, and being spoken to, with Tagalog while being taught.
I will be in the Philippines for one month, mid March until mid April of 2014, writing for my dissertation, and would like to dedicate 2 to 4 hours a day, 4 to 5 days a week to learning Tagalog in an intensive program.
I am looking for a teacher who has taught Tagalog as a second language before, and who all ready has materials planned or in mind to go through with me. I would be interested in taking lessons in Luzon. I will likely be traveling to Manila to do research, but I would be interested in a teacher outside of Manila as well.
If interested, I would like to do a trial lesson over Skype to see how we would get along, and then go from there to discuss terms of tutorial study with you. Furthermore, I intend to be preparing actively for participating in an intensive Tagalog tutorial and would work on materials with you before I go to the Philippines if at all possible.

I am seeking to learn this foreign language as I have plans to eventually relocate over there. I also have some connections within the country, therefore it would be ideal to converse in the native language.
While I know a couple of words and phrases, I would state my proficiency to be at a beginners level.
I have a particular interest on the conversationa l aspect of the language, although I would also like to be proficient with grammar.

I am a native English speaker wishing to learn Tagalog, mainly for the purposes of social interaction but also with the awareness that it may prove useful in more professional areas of my life. I have previously studied French and German to intermediate level, so I have an appreciation of language learning, but I currently have no knowledge at all of Tagalog or any other Filipino language. I hope to visit the country in the near future and so, as well as learning to understand and communicate in the native tongue, any available insights into appropriate conduct (dress, etiquette, culture, etc) would also be gratefully received. My preference is for face-to-face or online (text chat and voice chat) private tuition and, as I am totally blind, teaching without textbooks or the provision of necessary materials in an accessible electronic format (webpages, Microsoft Word documents, etc) will ensure that I can participate fully in the learning process.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been learning Filipino (Tagalog) independently now for a few months via a computer program. This has been very helpful and I have made some progress. My reason for learning Tagalog is that my fiancee is from the Philippines. I have been staying in the Philippines for the past four months and have also had some good practice here with local people. However, I will be returning to London in the next couple of weeks and while my computer program has been helpful up until now, I would like to continue practicing the language with someone who can speak it fluently (preferably a native speaker - simply to learn colloquialism s more accurately). My ultimate aim is to be able to communicate properly with my fiancee's family (as we will hopefully be visiting the Philippines at least once every year) and also to be able to raise any children we may have to speak both English and Tagalog.
M y fiancee is going to be out of the country for three months starting in November and I'm worried that without practice I will forget what I have learned so far.
So as you can see I am very serious about learning Tagalog. As far as how much time I would like to dedicate to lessons and which areas I need improvement in, having never done something like this before, I am open to any suggestions.
