Description |
I am learning Filipino (Tagalog) because I will be moving to the Philippines in the fall. Although I grew up in a Filipino household, I never formally learned the language, so I would like extra tutoring to develop my speaking skills. I would consider myself a beginner-- as I can understand quite a bit by listening, I have little understanding of grammar and the construction of sentences. My primary interest is developing decent conversationa l skills. This summer, I am willing to dedicate a good amount of my time learning Tagalog-- perhaps up to 10 hours a week. In my lessons, I am looking for practical explanation of grammar, with an emphasis on conversation and speaking. It would also be useful to learn enough grammar to read newspaper or magazine articles in Tagalog.

Description |
I am a biracial Filipino wanting to learn more about my heritage and culture. My family members on my father's side all speak Tagalog, and I too would like to learn it.
I am a beginner so I don't know any words or phrases yet, but I am willing to learn. I would like to do at least a couple hours a day if possible. All I am asking for in a teacher is patience and someone with experience.

Description |
I want to learn Tagalog because I am half Filipino and plan on going back to the Philippines to visit my family. I also want to use it as a career advancement. I plan on going to the Philippines after I graduate to see what job opportunities for nurses are available. My proficiency level is a beginner. I would like to invest a few days a week maybe 2-3 days 45 minutes if possible. I would like the teacher to teach me the most commonly used dialect of Tagalog to which I can speak when I travel the Philippines. Also, it would be nice to have a patient teacher who cares. I am a fast learner so it should not be that hard for me if I am consistent.

Description |
My name is Jeannie London. My children, 11 and 14 years, will be attending a Filipino school and Filipino composition is mandatory. I need to find a tutor who can work with them on-line while we are in the states and then in person when we arrive in Cebu. Our rental house is in the Tisa area.

Description |
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been learning Filipino (Tagalog) independently now for a few months via a computer program. This has been very helpful and I have made some progress. My reason for learning Tagalog is that my fiancee is from the Philippines. I have been staying in the Philippines for the past four months and have also had some good practice here with local people. However, I will be returning to London in the next couple of weeks and while my computer program has been helpful up until now, I would like to continue practicing the language with someone who can speak it fluently (preferably a native speaker - simply to learn colloquialism s more accurately). My ultimate aim is to be able to communicate properly with my fiancee's family (as we will hopefully be visiting the Philippines at least once every year) and also to be able to raise any children we may have to speak both English and Tagalog.
M y fiancee is going to be out of the country for three months starting in November and I'm worried that without practice I will forget what I have learned so far.
So as you can see I am very serious about learning Tagalog. As far as how much time I would like to dedicate to lessons and which areas I need improvement in, having never done something like this before, I am open to any suggestions.
Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Ja mes.
