I am a beginner and I will be in the Philippines for the summer. I have always wanted to learn Tagalog and I will have a lot of time to do so when I am there. I want to be able to learn as much Tagalog in as little time as possible and I am willing to put a lot of effort into it - so whatever methods work best are fine with me.

New to Philippines and new to Tagalog. English is my native language.
I have been here since September 2007 and have no plans to leave and therefore, I would like to become at least conversationa l in Tagalog. I am willing to commit 1-3 hours a week for classroom education and additional time to outside assignments.
I am looking for a teacher that can put me at ease and still push me to learn. I am a lazy student, so I am looking for someone that can motivate me.
