Description |
I have always had an interest in Nordic mythology and the history of the vikings. From this, I discovered the language of Icelandic. Although not spoken much outside of Iceland, I hope to be able to reach a high level of language ability in Icelandic. I wish to travel there someday.

Description |
I am intensely interested in all types of language learning and currently am focusing on Icelandic, as I have fallen in love with the language and country. I know very basic bits about it but have not really delved too far into the cases, bigger vocabulary, or tenses outside the present (though I took Latin and Spanish for 3 years so know all about cases and conjugations and all that goes into learning a language, and it comes very quickly to me). I'll need improvement in all areas - pronunciation , conversation, grammar grammar grammar. Actually, I feel like becoming conversationa l keeping in mind all that grammar might be the hardest part! I am relatively free to dedicate a LOT of time to this venture, I could do up to and more than two hours a day and would love to! Sometimes I spend hours upon hours learning this or that about the language... Though obviously not enough to have gone that far in, mostly bits and pieces. I seek a teacher who is passionate, knowledgeable , willing to help me on the journey in discovering how I learn best, going as fast and slow as necessary. I just want to have fun and really dedicate myself to this wonderful language!

Description |
Hello! I am Derek and I'm an American teenager that likes to learn languages. I am learning Dutch, Danish, Icelandic, Thai, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, and Portuguese. I am a high-beginner /low-intermedi ate in Dutch, but I'm a beginner in everything else. I need huge improvements on my Dutch grammar. I would be willing to fly to a country and live with a teacher or two for a month. I am looking for a teacher that is fun, open-minded, and interesting. Maybe it's you...

Description |
Hello. I travelled to Iceland last year and fell in love with the country. I enjoyed listening to the language and but wasn't there long enough to learn to speak much beyond some key words and phrases. Although there isn't a great benefit to learning Icelandic, I would like to challenge myself to overcome its complexities enough to at least have a conversation with some of the locals, especially if I return. I have been studying Hildur Jonsdöttir's 'Teach yourself Icelandic' with. varying intensity so am slowly getting my mind around verb conjugation and pronunciation s. I have a busy job but would like to dedicate some time to this, preferably as structured lessons.

Description |
I'm learning this language for two reasons, one and mainly, my heritage is prodominately Scandinavian and the language closest to the ancient Scandinavian language (Old Norse) is Icelandic. Also, I wish to go to college in Iceland and want to know the language before I go. I am an absolute beginner, though I know the alphabet and pronunciation s. I'm a very quick learner and will catch on to vocabulary words, some I already know. I am willing to work out any amount of time I can. I've been wanting (and attempting) to learn Icelandic for a long time, so there's no doubt that I'll be dedicated.
