Learner Name: Jake
Learning Language Japanese
City, State or Province Yokosuka, Kanagawa
Country Japan
Wants Lessons
Delivered by
Live, in person
Description Why are you learning your foreign language?
I am learning Japanese primarily to enhance my daily life experiences and interactions in Japan, where I currently reside. Understanding and communicating in Japanese will make my daily tasks easier and allow me to connect more deeply with the local culture and people.

Yo ur proficiency level:
I am a beginner. While I have picked up a few phrases and can understand a bit more than I can speak, my overall ability to communicate in Japanese is quite limited.

A reas in need of particular improvement: I would like to focus on improving my conversationa l skills and vocabulary retention. Due to dyslexia, I find it challenging to retain new words, so techniques that enhance memory retention would be helpful. Additionally, I need to strengthen my grammar to build a more solid foundation in the language.

How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons:
I am committed to dedicating at least several hours per week to structured lessons. Additionally, I plan to practice daily using language learning apps and interacting with local speakers to reinforce my learning.

What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher:
I value a teacher who is patient, understanding of my learning challenges, and creative in their teaching methods. An ideal teacher would use visual aids and practical, real-life examples to explain concepts. I appreciate lessons that are structured yet flexible enough to adapt to my pace and interests, especially those that integrate aspects of Japanese culture.

Learner Name: SamF
Learning Language Japanese
City, State or Province Miyazaki-shi, Kyushu
Country Japan
Wants Lessons
Delivered by
Live, in person
Description Hello! I'm Sam, and I'm living in Miyazaki-shi for the next two months, because I really want to learn to speak better Japanese. I want to deeply connect with the culture, language, and cuisine of Japan, which is why I'm learning Japanese!

I can read hiragana, katakana, and 200 kanji. I can have simple conversations , but I make a lot of mistakes - I'm still a beginner. I would like a lot of in person conversation practice, where I can get real feedback on my Japanese and help me sound more natural.

I'm very flexible with how much time I dedicate to the language lessons, it depends how much I'm getting out of them. I'd like to start off with just 1 or 2 sessions per week though.
