I'd like to learn/practic e Tagalog (Filipino) and am looking for a tutor based in Minneapolis.
I am in Minneapolis two weeks per month. I'm looking for a tutor who is willing to meet 1-2 times per month, for 1-2 hours per session. I would like a tutor who could meet near the 48th and Chicago area or in downtown Minneapolis (at a coffee shop), but if someone is a potential tutor and they can not meet me in these areas, I am willing to be flexible. I'm open to pay - the potential tutor should propose an hourly or per session rate. I'm not picky on their education - they don't have to be a professional teacher... just a fluent Tagalog speaker that is willing to help someone learn.

Dear Professionals ,
I am interested in learning the language of Tagalog, as my romantic partner grew up in the Philippines and speaks the language fluently. As our relationship becomes more serious, I would like to learn Tagalog so that I may more fully understand and participate in this individual's cultural and family background, which is an interwoven part of who they are. My proficiency level is that of a beginner. I have no experience with this language, as my partner feels it is rude to speak it in front of me, since I am unable to participate in the conversation. I would like my language lessons to be set up like a typical classroom structure that I am used to. For example, weekly sessions with a tutor that include instruction (as well as a 'testing format'), followed by my practicing of the lessons on my own throughout the week. The qualities I am looking for in a teacher include professionali sm & a strong knowledge in both the Tagalog & English languages. Thank you in advance for your time in reviewing my Learner Profile.
