Description |
I expect/plan to make aliyah after I retire. I am 66 and I am a gioret, having converted in June of 2011. I've davened every day since then. I am autistic and I have what is termed slow processing, which impacts listening, processing and producing speech - it can take me longer to recognize words as words and to discover ideas and words with which to respond - in English as well as Hebrew. This is alleviated if I am more at ease with either the person with whom I am speaking or with the subject of conversation or both. To alleviate this I do watch and listen to some news and movies in Hebrew which has helped with detecting and decoding speech in a stream of sound. I also have issues with theory of mind, understanding what might be going on with the other person, to varying degrees. I have trouble making small talk in English and in Hebrew. I pray by myself and aloud, I don't go to beit knesset on Shabbat or holidays because I have issues with crowds and chaos so I do Shabbat and holiday shacharit in about five or six hours at home, I read the Torah portion and haftarah aloud but no chanting. I often talk to myself in the little Hebrew that I know, I enjoy that and it does make me laugh. I'd love to set up regular lessons, perhaps half an hour per week or an hour every two weeks depending on the cost. I am looking for a teacher, preferably a woman, who is determined and organized because I have trouble being either of those things and need help - I do work 7.5 hours a day 5 days a week as an admin in a college office which takes up the bulk of my week, but I can flex that time i.e. work later if a class needs to be within the time bounds of the workday. I know that sometimes my speech is a little geeky sounding. I can only pray that there is someone who is willing to try this with me. Baruchim haba'im to all who read this far, I appreciate your time and your patience.

I am wanting to learn Tagalog. My Fiancee' is from the Philippines, and although she speaks perfect English, I want to learn Tagalog. I feel that learning Tagalog would be a beneficial for me when we travel to the Philippines. I am a beginner, but I am a very quick learner. I would like to dedicate about 10 hours each week to learning Tagalog.I am looking for a teacher that understands that each student is different and comes up with a lesson plan for each student.

Description |
I was born in Brasil but grew up in the U.S. My mom spoke portugues to me so I understand fairly well but speak pretty poorly. I think I am intermediate.
I spent 4 months in Sao Paulo last year and plan on going back, permanently, in a year. I want to learn portugues so I can speak well with my family and for employment.
I really need help with grammar. I am pretty self conscious about speaking and practicing will hopefully help me overcome that.
I am willing to dedicate a few hours a week to lang. lessons. I am looking for a teacher that speaks portugues well, will challenge me to grow in my abilities, and teach me about Brasil.
Cheers~
