I started learning Mandarin in 4th grade while living in Hong Kong. I lived in Hong Kong for 2-1/2 years. I then moved to California and, unfortunately , was not able to continue my studies there. My family moved to Minnesota last year and as a freshman in high school, I was able to learn Mandarin as an Independent Study using the Homeschool version of Rosetta Stone. Given the complexity of the language, I prefer to have a teacher/tutor for in-person feedback/corr ection, etc. so we are now looking for a different curriculum and teacher/tutor . I must report assessment results to my high school in order for this to be considered a legitimate independent study.

I have been living and working in Iquitos, Peru for four years. I did not have any formal classes before I started in my current situation but have picked up the language on the street. I know my grammar isn't great and I'd like to improve in this area. Also, I've found unexpectedly myself here in Perth for three months and I'd like to keep up my skills to the best of my ability before I head back home to Peru. I am available at least once, if not twice a week. It will depend on when and where. I'm flexible.
