"Taiwanese"is not a dialect! Instead,"Taiwanese" is the traditional
Chinese words.Besides,"Mandarin Chinese" is the Simplified Chinese words.In other words,"Mandarin Chinese"is "SIMPLIFIED".(In the ancient times,Chinese words are like those now in Taiwan)
Thus,I think that many foreigners want to learn Mandarin Chinese because it is simplified and easier.
In sum,Taiwan is a country next to China.(maybe you should have an map.)Furthermore,Taiwanese is not a dialect!It's PURE >just like what you said.
