Re:Candy swap
I came here to learn Japanese, but now would be an excellent chance to brush up on my German. I studied it in university, right when the Berlin Wall was being torn down. Our professor was German and kept saying how many parts of our textbook (the culture sections) would have to be redone once the Wall came down. She was really excited.
I lost most of my German, but not the excitement she felt. It will be with me until I die.
I'd be interested in a candy swap! I'd also like to get actual letters. It's a lost art I know, but I'm in a nursing home and don't get much mail.
Have you ever heard of poutine? Or maple syrup? The Canadian War Museum sells some excellent maple syrup fudge. You'd eat the whole box in five minutes! Hehehe!

Re:LOVE German food
Maybe you can try "Käsespätzle" It's some kind of pasta, but different:D with cheese delicious!!!!
And "Kartoffelsalat" oder "Nudelsalat". You choose potatoes or Pasta, with mayonnaise sausages, some dill pickles, corn, peas and very delicious are apples! Try it and search for the right receipt in the internet!

Slovak recipes?
Hi everybody! I'm here for making friends, learning Slovak and general "root exploration", cuz my father is from Slovak and I only know some phrases like "Good night" - and I dont even know how to spell it^^
Well I love cooking so I thought I could start with collecting some typical tasty Slovakian recipes and test them on me and my boyfriend :-D . I don't know what typical Slovak food is. My father isn't that much into cooking, so he can't tell me. I also don't see him often enough for him to teach me Slovak.
If you are gold member and speak Slovak looking for an Exchange partner for German or English (not native, so no slang or such), contact me no matter if you have recipes for me :-)
If you are like me standard member, there seems to be no way, we're getting exchange partners, but if you are willing to help anyway, you can post the recipes here on the blackboard.
Honestly, I feel a bit hopeless finding a partner, cuz I can't imagine there are enough Gold members for contacting the standard members... but I'm willing to change my opinion.
