Re:I need help with German!
Hallo Emily,

I have studied a little Deutsch on my own, but mostly for "fun". I am originally from NJ too, Ocean County! That was many years ago, I live in CA now.

I have horses too, my wife (mein Frau) and I keep Norwegian Fjords. A few years ago i went to Germany for the first time and rode at a Reitschule.

I really don't know anything about sign language, but good luck!

Wenn Sie wollen auf Deutsch schreiben, koennen Sie mich antworten.

Viele Gruesse

Re:answer to
Marion
I am also a native English speaker but have been living in Austria for a few years. I think the answer to your question is that you say "bitte" - which is the same word used for please. So it goes bitte (please) danke (thank you) and bitte (you're welcome). If someone adds a modifier such as "sehr" - bitte sehr - then you add the same modifier in your reply: danke sehr ... bitte sehr.
Hope that helps.

answer to "thank you"
Hello! I have a question how to answer, if somebody says "thank you". I read about the answer "you´re welcome", but I can´t translate it really or exactly. If you say "you´re welcome" in Germany it is a greeting to a very good friend and it is not the answer to a simple thank. I think it has it´s own sence or maybe it only will be used in special areas of english-speaking countries? Who can give me more informations about this? Thank you and best regards, Marion

Hello! We have here a few differences dicussed about the ending of an application for a new job in Canada. Where is the difference between "kindly regards", only "regards" or "best regards". It´s difficult to translate in German in the same kind. Thanks for an answer!
