Hobbies...
Well, for starters, I'll just say it straight out: I'm a weird one. I have some very odd hobbies, especially for someone of my gender and age (I'm a 42 year old female).
I'm an as-yet-unpublished writer of horror fiction (Stephen King with a feminine side) and I absolutely love horror movies. I'm into the suspenseful and creepy kind, not the slop and gore that seems to be flooding the market these days. In my opinion, Japan and Korea make some of the absolute BEST horror films I have seen.
I also play survival horror video games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame.
I'm a paranormal investigator. I love poking around in abandoned houses, buildings, and in particular - abandoned hospitals and churches. Not just with the hope of capturing something paranormal, but such places to me are like finding some long lost treasure buried in the ground. I love learning the history behind these locations, and about the people who once lived there.
Someday I hope to visit my grandpa's birthplace of Trondheim, Norway, as I'm told the family still owns the estate there and that when my aunt visited several years ago she discovered Grandpa's bedroom was pretty much just as he'd left it back in 1919.
But it's not just my ancestral history that interests me in Norway...I also want to go there to see the ghost monk of Nidaros Cathedral.
Anyway, now that I have you thinking I'm some sort of Aileen Wournos wanna-be who hides in the shadows and eats small children, I'd like to point out some other interests and hobbies of mine that help to balance the equation: riding/showing/training horses (Dressage), dog grooming, cooking, music (pretty much everything other than rap and opera), and I've returned to school to become a paramedic.
In addition to learning Norwegian, I am also interested in Russian, Japanese, Korean and German. Sign language would also be something I would love to learn.
