Quick Question On Speaking Polite German
I just had a quick question because I'm going to Germany soon....If I wish to be polite can I always use the infinitive followed by Sie? So if I wish to ask someone who I dont know "what do you do"? but in a polite way?

Re:Quick Question On Speaking Polite German
Hey neil!Do u mean "how r u?" or do u really mean "what do u do?" because I know some people from england and they sometimes mean "how r u?" when they say "what do u do?".As "how r u?" u would say "Wie geht es Ihnen?" and as "what do u do?" u would say "Was machen/tun Sie?". I hope I could help u a littlebit.Have u still got any questions?

Hello, Nei:

There is another way of asking ones profession. {Was sind Sie von Beruf}? What is your profession? I hope that it was helpful.
