I have many years' experience of teaching Latin and Ancient Greek, gained at leading independent schools in the UK. I believe in making sure students understand the grammatical structure of both languages since this provides sound foundations on which to build when tackling the works of Classical authors. I like to emphasise the many links between Latin / Ancient Greek and modern languages, and think it important to set the language teaching within the cultural and historical context of the time. |

I am passionate about languages and enjoy teaching students language acquisition skills through interactive and dynamic methods. Although I focus on grammar and syntax, I do not encourage rote learning, and believe that language is, at the end, all about human interaction. Thus, I always stress the importance of practicing the language both inside and outside of class, and to make use of any chance to put it into practice. |

We take pride focusing on personal growth through career and leadership development and professional connections to cultivate . . .
We provide a detailed evaluation and optional diagnostics report after initial lesson and after every tenth subsequent lesson. The evaluation report summarizes material covered and the student's progress towards clear goals via critical observations and an outline for future lessons. The diagnostics report goes into greater depth quantifying the student’s performance and charting his/her progress with easy-to-under stand visuals. - |

Latin focuses strongly on memorising grammar tables, verb patterns and application of the rules to unravel a sentence . It is therefore important to teach students how to learn, recall and apply their knowledge in a methodical manner. I teach students to look at any Latin sentence as a puzzle- piece the puzzle together by identifying how each word fits into the puzzle based on its context and sense. Precision and accuracy is key to gaining the high marks. I know how papers and marked and the answers examiners are looking for. I even make my own questions for GCSE set texts when there are no past papers to go as the set text changes every 3 years. The questions I tip and make mirror those that actually come up in the exams. Vocab ulary learning is also a hurdle to be overcome in Latin. The GCSE vocab list comprises 475 words for the Higher Tier exam. I ask students to think about the English derivative to the Latin word and to use this to help them remember the word.
