Hello!

I have always been someone who enjoys learning languages, although I haven’t focused on any in a few years. I very recently returned from a trip to southern India, including the state of Kerala, where I strated to try to teach myself the script and a few words. And I realized that it is not an easy language for an English speaker to learn!

I am now interested in learning a little more, particularly beginner and intermediate grammar, and pronounciatio n. My first goal is to be able to have simple conversations , both spoken and written, partly because I made one friend in Kerala who I’d like to stay in touch with but whose English is not very good. Also because I hope to be able to return to Kerala sometime to spend more time there.

I want to spend perhaps 3-4 hours per week studying right now, because that is what my work schedule will allow.

I am looking for an instructor who can coach me in speaking and writing Malayalam, and also who is good at teaching the grammatical principles, since I learn languages best in a somewhat structured format, where I am both using the language but also understanding the grammatical “building blocks”of the language.
