Personalized and clear I spent four weeks with Elodie, 3-4 days a week, for 1.5 hours. Elodie raised my French conversational skills incredibly during that time. I came to her having had one year of French in college in 1985, and having recently reviewed French via CD and book, so I was quite stilted, often incorrect, and always searching for vocabulary. Elodie brought out the best in me, giving me the confidence to relax and let what I knew come out of my brain and form sentences, and I was surprised to discover that there was actually quite a lot of French tucked away in there! The constant practice with her, the quick feedback, the encouragement, and the personalized structure all combined to give me the ability to use that information to actually speak French. By the end of the four weeks, I finally had a grasp of what it was like to speak French, and not just make mental translations as if it were a mind game with complicated rules. For me, this was a breakthrough of incredible significance. French became a language, not a thought problem. Elodie herself is fabulous. She is funny, caring, kind, and firm. She is encouraging and interesting, and no matter how bad a day I had been having before arriving at her school, I was in a great mood by the time I sat down because I was so happy to be with her.
