Hello-
I am currently trying to learn the Portuguese language.
My fiance is Brazilian, and is currently there due to immigration issues. I have been to Brazil twice, since she left the U.S. Her family does not speak English, and I would like to gain fluency to speak easily with them, and make it easier to get around Brazil.
I have been taking private lessons from a tutor for the past year, but she is looking to end the lessons due to time constraints due to her job. I have a basic knowlege of sentence structure and common verbs. I am looking for someone I can practice speaking with and to increase my vocabulary to become fluent. I would like to take lessons 1 to twice a week in the evenings at around an hour to hour and a half per lesson.

I would like to host a weekly Portuguese study group at my home in Lakeview. The home is spatious and beatiful. I have two friends who are very fluent in Spanish who would also come regularly to the classes. I am functionally proficient in Spanish. The three of us like learning languages. We have talked of traveling to Brazil and Portugal (again), and even of retiring there eventually. Personally, if I became proficient, I would want to also learn enough to use Portuguese in speaking to patients. I will pay for the class, and seek reimbursement from the others when they show up. I would also like to be able to invite several friends who are for the most part mono-lingual English speakers (my brother, sister-in-law , life partner, maybe 2 to 4 others). I would host the class on a Sunday, either in the morning or afternoon. Because I work every 4th weekend (on call as a physician), the class will likely meet 3x/month. I propose to start in late January, or in February, 2005.

My brother and I are seeking a Portugese class/teacher for either classroom or individual tutoring. We both love the language, and have studied it on our own for several years. I think we would be considered somewhere between beginner and intermediate. We also hope to visit Brazil very soon.
We intend to start immediately, as time is a major factor for us. We would be willing to meet at least once a week, or even more depending on the tutor's time. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about the language. We are willing to travel anywhere in the Dallas area for class.
