I am interested in learning Portuguese as both a hobby and for possible use in international business. I am an intermediate level student, based on a language placement I took at a school in Rio after 1 week of instruction in December. This followed previous classes on line and in person and a background with Spanish. I am interested in reviewing grammar and practicing on speaking, listening, and writing during classes, which I prefer to take via Skype evenings or weekends. I want to learn Portuguese as a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend who is Portuguese. His birthday is at the end of October, so I would like to at least get the basics down by that time.
I am certainly a beginner and would need to start with the most basic instruction.
The amount of times I would be able to meet per week would depend on the cost of each lesson. I would like to meet at least twice a week for a one hour session each time, if possible.
I am looking for a teacher who is organized, experienced and patient.

My name is Angela, and I'm attempting to learn Brazilian Portuguese. I'm hoping to be somewhat near experianced with Portuguese by the time I go to Brazil in June of 2012. I'm looking for more fluency in speaking and conversing, as I make calls to friends in Brazil and I would love to be able to effeciantly speak with their family without embarassing myself. I am a beginner, just starting to defipher different accents. I cannot condjugate verbs yet. Any help is very welcome, I'm looking for someone who has lessons for me and will give me specific vocab to focus on.

I am learning foreign languages for enjoyment. I want to be able to speak in many of them fluently, and be able to travel with ease given this skill. I am currently a beginner in all, save for English (my native language). I would like to be very well learned in each and every language I know. I can give 1hr of my week (4-7PM Mon-Thurs) to personal lessons, and have plenty of time to study through the rest of the week. I wish to find a teacher who is flexible and understanding , in terms of my ability to grasp linguistics.
