I am very dedicated to my studies. You can take my word that I am serious about doing the best I can.
I consider myself as a beginner for Japanese. I know how to read hiragana and katakana (no kanji) and I can pronounce Japanese fairly well. However, my main focus to be able to do is speak Japanese fluently so I can communicate with others. In addition, it would be very useful to learn how to read and write the characters properly.
All in all, I am aiming for being able to speak, write, and read Japanese. I want to learn this language because I simply have a passion for it. Ever since I was nine, I have been fascinated by people speaking Japanese. Since than, I've study as much as a can (slowly) and that's where it got me today. It's been a dream of mine to be able to speak the language fluently so that one day I can go to Japan and communicate with others. I intensely want to learn Japanese with all of my heart.
My expectations for teachers would simply be three things. I hope that you are very dedicated as I am in my learning, very patience in helping me achieve my goal, and I hope that you are a very kind person towards me and my family. As for the time and date I am very flexible so I would like to discuss that over e-mail or some sort. Time/Hours can be discussed in e-mails. I am a student so most likely I will not be able to learn on weekdays. As for money, I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount so long as it's not too much of a high cost (e.g. $40+ per hour). My proficiency level is beginer. I would like to speak conversatioon al Cantonese. If this would be in person instruction, I would think about an hour a week. If this was on line or via telephone I would expect more. I am looking for a teacher who is fluent in both english and cantonese. I have a chinese friend who has helped me learn some phrases but her english, although very good is not fluent. i am thinking of a compensation level of $15/hr/wk. I chose this level because I know for example, the current rate for guitar lessons is that amount. i have read some things about Chinese history. I am interested in the culture and as i said I have a friend I could relate to on a new level. If the what I am looking for is not available through this site, can you make any suggestions?
