I have been to Ukraine once and Russia twice, so I've learned some Russian during my time there. I can read and write the Cyrillic alphabet, but very slowly. I have some basic conversationa l ability. I am definitely still a beginner, but not completely new to the language.
I want to learn Russian so I can do more volunteerism with orphans in Eastern Europe.
I would like to spend at least an hour a week with a tutor or group to practice Russian, and I plan to dedicate about 6 hours a week to studying Russian.
I would like lessons that help me conversationa lly, but also with reading and writing if possible.

I studied Mandarin as an adult for 3 semesters at the University of South Florida, about 10 years ago. I also had one semester of chinese characters. I would like to gain proficiency and fluency for personal enrichment, and would also like to travel to Taiwan and China sometime in the next few years.
I have a full time job, so learning would have to be outside normal working hours.
