I have taken several intro Hindi classes (while studying in India, at UCLA, + through the IACC in Los Angeles), but need regular practice time with skilled teacher. Speaking skills are number one, but I would also like to practice reading (have very very basic knowledge of devanagri). I can only take lessons in the evenings and/or weekends b/c I work full-time, but am interested in lessons 1-3 times a week. I am looking for a teacher who is a native Hindi speaker with teaching experience--I have books, worksheets + drills (I just need someone with knowledge of Hindi to correct my work + practice speaking with). I am interested in learning Hindi b/c I think it is a beautiful language and for academic/care er advancement.

I wish to learn Hindi or Urdu as I intend to re-visit India & remain for some time. I am familiar with the people & culture & have tried to grasp the language with books, tapes but desire a 1 to 1 situation as I am truly a beginner. Conversation that is understood would be primary, correct grammar secondary. Time to spend on this is dependent upon our already existing schedules and the amount of compensation expected per lesson. I prefer someone with patience as well as an understanding of my personal needs to speak the language. I thank you in advance for your consideration .

I want to learn Hindi because I am studying international economic and trade law and India is a hot bed for such issues. I have a deep interest in the Indian culture and plan to do much work there. I am a beginner but I plan to study over the summer either by myself or with an instructor until I can find a more intensly focussed program. I plan to spend a lot of time with the language, even to travel to India to immurse myself in it as much as possible. I hope I can find an or a program there. I am looking for an instructor who is effective, serious and dedicated to my learning.
