I'm a complete beginner. I would like to learn arabic to converse with my partner's family. I am also fluent in french, if that helps the teaching.
I can probably only spare a couple of hours a week. I prefer to learn by understanding grammar and how to create a sentence than by learning a list of useful phrases.

Hello ,
I want to learn arabic - modern standard . I was born in england however,i am mixed race , my father was from iraq - baghdad . I have never visited there and i know nothing about it . But as i am half iraqi i really want to learn how to speak arabic and especially write it , i am very much at a beginners level . I am willing to dedicate alot of time to learning arabic , whenever is possible . I have bought a couple of books which did not help as they were not really for self teaching and were more focused on the script , i also bought a cd rom which was ok but was more suitable for ppl going on vacation to a arab county , and just included popular phrases for getting around etc , not enough info for proper conversations . If anyone feels they can help me with this i would love to here from you . Much appreciated . Thank you.

I am looking for someone to teach me Arabic until the beginning or middle of October (I am currently located in London, UK and will be here until then). I am looking specifically for a female teacher. My reason for learning is mainly in order to read and understand the Quran, so I would like to concentrate mainly on formal language and not so much on learning how to deal with daily life situations.
