I majored in Germanic and Slavic Languages (German, Russian, Beginners Polish and Bosnian/Croat ian/Serbian) and Middle Eastern Studies(Arabi c). I'm also interested in European Portuguese. I graduated six years ago and I have nearly forgotten everything. I've had no opportunity to practice and it's really wreaked havoc on my language skills. I would say at one point I was near-Fluent in German and Russian and Advanced in Modern Standard Arabic...but really now it's back to beginners with Arabic... then beginner level with Polish, BCS, and Portuguese(Ab solute)...and barely intermediate with German and Russian. Conversation! Conversation! Conversation! How to speak more like a native, not so textbook! I'm nervous...and I've always been, but with no practice, I'm EXTREMELY nervous, but I want to work pass that. Well outside of tutoring, I'd like to study some everyday, but about maybe 1-2 hours of tutoring per language a week! I suppose someone who is reliable and fun, and helps me learn the language through various methods. I'm 32 and I'd like someone who can relate to me at that age and my general interest. I'm fun loving and sociable, so I'd like my lessons to mirror that as much as possible. I'd also like someone who is patient and won't make TOO much fun if I mess it up!

I have family by marriage in Belgrade and I'd like to be able to communicate with them more effectively than my current rudimentary Serbian allows. I've taken a brief semester of Serbo-Croatia n years ago but I would call myself a beginner at this point.
I'd like to focus on day to day conversation but striving for correct grammar and modern idiomatic (rather than travel-book) Serbian.
2 -3 hrs a week of one-on-one lessons with enough 'homework' in between to keep me busy. Hoping to feel a even a little bit more comfortable in conversation by the time I travel with my daughters to Serbia/Monten egro/Croatia at the end of June.

My husband is Serbian and we would like to teach our children his native language. I am interested in taking classes as well. I'm familiar to some phrases and greetings, but nothing else. We live at Ft Meade and hoping to find someone close to us so we can have in-person classes. I'm willing to stick with all the courses. I would like to be able to read and speak conversationa l Serbian.
We hope to find an instuctor that is supportive, with a lot of patience. We are committed to learning this language and will take these classes very seriously.
