I would like to learn Thai because I am going on a trip to there is five months from now (September 2010). I have been there once for a very short time and really liked it. I think if I am able to learn to speak some Thai I may be able to communicate with Thais in a more polite manner and also be able to visit places that don't strictly cater to the tourist.
I am a beginner. I have been doing the Rosetta stone program for a couple of weeks and know a few basic words but cannot communicate in any practical way. I would like to learn the basics, reading, writing and speaking. I don't expect to be too good by September but I think I will want to continue learning after that.
I am thinking that I would like to take one lesson a week for a couple of hours. I do not have a great memory and learn best by doing.

I would like to learn Japanese, because I plan on going there for a vacation in the near future. I am a beginner, I have a book for Japanese but it helps very little. Area of improvement is pretty much everything. Not sure how much time for lessons but i would say about 1 or 2 hours a day, about 3 days a week or so. I would like a teacher that can teach me more than I know already, that can help me understand sentence structures etc... for speaking to others. I would like to get to a point where I can watch a Japanese show (Anime or actual game shows) and understand what they are saying.
