I travelled to Egypt last October and want to return and see things 'away from the beaten path.' I lived in Tehran a long time ago and am respectful and sensitive to the cultural differences in that part of the world. I feel I should speak the language if I am to travel to other lands. I want to travel again to Egypt, and then to Jordan and Morocco.
I am able to speak a little Egyptian Arabic and want to learn to be a more proficient speaker. I have been casually learning some Arabic with an Egyption friend, but am ready to learn more.
Also , I hope to use Arabic to advance my career.

I am wanting to learn Arabic (Starting with Egyptian (Cairo) Arabic) in order to further pursue the Middle Eastern Arts that I teach. I teach Arabic dances, I am a henna artist, and I play the doumbec and sagat. I also do Bedouin style weaving. I have learned some Arabic through Pimsleur Egyptian Arabic CDs and Egyptian Vocabulary Clinic on the computer. I also have several books on Arabic although most are for Modern Standard Arabic. I would like to build my vocabulary and learn to translate the songs I dance to, such as Hakim's songs. How much time I can dedicate depends on the method of delivery and the cost. I can work on homework in the evenings after my 3 year old is in bed, but only 1 hour a week with an instructor at this time.

I would like to learn Arabic in order to improve my relationship with my Egyptian husband. I am a beginner, and know only a few words of Arabic. I wish to be able to carry on a conversation in Arabic with my husband and his family. I will dedicate all of my time to learning this new language, as it is a priority for me. I would like a teacher who will customize the lessons according to the pace at which I learn the language. I would prefer a strict and straight-forw ard instructor who will enable me to learn the language and become fluent in the shortest time possible.
