Hello. I am trying to learn very fluint Croatian. I am somewhat of a beginner. I know the pronounciatio ns of the alphabet and simple words and phrases. The reason I want to learn Croatian is that my girlfriend is Croatian and none of her family speaks english, therefore, I have no way of communcating with her family. She and I have plans for the future together and communicating with her family is very important. I would like to be fluint in all aspects of the language as much as possible. My schedule changes quite a bit, but I would like to spend a lot of my time in learning the language so that I would learn faster and have a better understanding of the language. However, I may be moving to Ft. Myers, FL in the next few months with her. In a teacher, all that I would really ask is for patience and being able to explain the rules of the language on why some things are said the way they are or what the rules are in why you change the text or grammar of the words. Also, in a teacher, speaking freely with one another to become a trustworthy friendship is important. Thank you for you time. Please, help me.

I am at the beginner level I know a few phrases and the alphabet and the numbers 0-10.
I am wanting to learn croatian because of my boyfriend. I am wanting to have a conversation in his native language.
I would like at least one hour a week, various types, like in person, or on the phone, or email. It might vary about the times a week but i will dedicate 1-2 hours a day to the croatian language.
I want someone that is interested in teaching me this is something I really want, i however, do not have alot of money. but this is important, I really want attention because I want to learn in a year. I want a teacher that knows how to teach.

Croatian was my first language as a child, but growing up in the U.S., it is not so much that I have forgotten Croatian, rather I'm not sure I ever knew proper grammar. It is important to me that I get a handle on the grammar from the basics, since with merely speaking it, I have not rules and continue to make the same mistakes over and over.
I want to correct my grammar in speaking because we speak only Croatian to our one-year-old daughter, and plan to do so with new other baby on the way. Even though she hears correct Croatian from my husband, who has only been in the U.S. for 10 years, I think it is important the children hear it correctly from their mother, as well. Besides, I often can hear that I'm saying something incorrectly, but don't know how to fix it -- very frustrating.
I don't know how much time I can dedicate to language lessons - probably just a a few hours a week - due to working full time and having a small child, soon to be more than one.
The only qualities I am looking for in a teacher is patience in explaining fundamental grammar to me from the very basics onward.
