I am in need of a professional teacher who is fluent in Afghan Dari (not Farsi). I have recently begun using Pimsleur's Basic Dari Persian CDs and multiple websites to get me started. I have also ordered from Indiana University a workbook to assist me with Dari script. It is my desire to become a medical translator. In order for me to reach this goal, I need to be at the ILR level 3; therefore, I need a language teacher who has the capability to help me get that far.
I have been a nurse for 30 years. I have also worked part time doing medical transcription (listening to doctors dictate medical information in English and typing it up in English). Before attending nursing school I had wanted to be a linguist and work as an interpreter at the UN. I changed majors because I thought nursing was more practical. I have no regrets for making that choice.
No w I am ready to obtain my original dream with some slight changes. Instead of interpreting, I want to translate materials and instead of working at the UN, I want to work in the Washington, DC area. I am also interested in going on short-term medical mission trips to Afghanistan.
I am not employed at this time, and I have the capability to put in the time needed to achieve my goal. I want to have lessons on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for 4 hours each of those days.
Plea se contact me if you have the skill and availability to get me to my goal. Team teaching/shar ed teaching is welcomed by me. It would be advantageous to get used to more than one Dari speaker.

At the moment I'm self teaching myself the Russian language. I'm utilizing audio and text. I have basic reading ability, but vocabulary is limited. I would like someone to teach me grammar, pronunciation and to help me establish a proven study guide.
