My husband and I are interested in learning Brazilian Portuguese. We are both beginners and have recently travelled to Brazil and are interested in returing on a regular basis. We are both shift workers and therefore have very flexible schedules. Our goal is to be able to have basic conversation skills. I'm at the beginner level. My parents are both Slovenian and Slovenian was spoken in our family though it was never formally taught to me. In those days 1960's the emphasis was to learn English so that I would assimilate into mainstream Canadian society and thus from speaking French and Slovenian at the age of 5, today I'm only fluent in English. I want to learn how to speak Slovenian and am very capable to get to Toronto to take lessons. My parents and brothers and sisters all live in the area.

Hello,
My name is Julia DiSano and I am interested in continuing my education in Japanese. I have just returned (5 months ago) from a one-year intensive Japanese language program at Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. Prior to that, I also studied Japanese for 3 other years here in Canada (one during high school--every Sunday monring, and the other 2 years at university in NB). As a result, I am at a high intermediate/ early advanced language prficiency level, and am able to read about 800 kanji characters (though my writing ability my-hand is lower). I would like to partake in language classes this summer as well as, perhaps, individual tutoring on the same days. I am willing to study for approx. 2-4 hours 2-3 times per week, and hope to be able to converse freely in Japanese (to refresh my speaking ability, as I have no opportunities t practice that otherwise). Also, as I intend on teaching Japanese and English at the secondary school level, I would also be very appreciative if there were any type of job opportunity for me with the school.
