I am a United States citizen who wishes to become fluent in Portuguese (Portuges Brasileiro). My level is beginner to intermediate and I would like a teacher that focuses on conversation- based learning. My main motivation for attaining fluency in Portuguese is to speak with my in-laws (and their extended family), who are from the nordeste regiao of Brazil. I am willing to meet via zoom (or other free video conferencing software) at least twice a week for conversation and grammar improvement. I can devote at least 25 hours / week of self-study. I am super enthusiastic to learn!

As a Foreign Language Area Studies Fellow I am required to study Vietnamese this entire school year. Because this is my senior year in university this is my last opportunity to truly commit myself to learning the language. In addition to this I plan on moving to HCMC after I graduate to work in the city. Although my mother is from Vietnam and Vietnamese is her native language, I was raised with English. Since starting university I have studied Vietnamese for 3 years and studied abroad in Vietnam for a semester, but have yet to conquer the language. My weaknesses in Vietnamese include pronunciation , understanding , and basic vocabulary (if you don't use it you really lose it). Currently I will be studying Vietnamese at school twice a week for three hours total, but I believe I need to speak everyday for at least one hour to become more comfortable with the language. My expectations of my tutor include first and foremost patience, creativity in lessons, a sense of humor, and of course an understanding of the English language.

I would like to learn German as my boyfriend is a native German and I would like to be able to communicate with his family. There also is a possibility for me to move to Germany in the next few years, in which case I would need to know the language in order to find employment.
I have taken one year of beginner's German at the local community college. I feel that I have some skills, but do not feel comfortable conversing in German. I also feel that I did not learn very much vocabulary.
I would like to improve upon my understanding of the different tenses of German. I would also like to work on conversation and vocabulary.
I would like to have a day a week that I could work with an instructor at least. I had class twice a week and that worked out well, but was hectic with my schedule as I work full time and have other commitments.
I am looking for a teacher that is very knowledgeable and approachable. I would like to be able to feel comfortable with the individual I am working with and confident that they know what they are doing. I would prefer a native speaker, but it is not necessary.
