I have never learned Thai before. I would like to know about the culture and the language because my mother is Thai. Unfortunately , our attitudes are too similar to work well for learning! We do plan on going back to her village in the next few years, so I would like to learn before I go. I can dedicate 1-2 days a week for lessons, will have to practice on my own otherwise. I would enjoy group lessons also if possible.

I am very interested in learning the Armenian language. I am Armenian myself, but have lost all of my fluency and comprehension since attendind an Armenian school in California 15 years ago. I grew up with Russian being spoken in the home, so I have not been able to retain any Aremenian, except for a few phrases. I would definitely put myself in the beginners category, needing instruction in all facets of the language. As for my motivations, I simply want to become more intimite with my culture. I am also studying Political Science/Econo mics and Comparative Islamic Studies at the University of Washington, and think that proficiency in an another language could be helpful for my future job prospects. Since I will be a full-time student for the remainder of spring, my ideal time to begin instruction would be during this coming summer. I can go into further detail about my availability upon request. In regards to lessons and teacher, I would hope that lessons are dynamic in the sense that they cover and are balanced between grammer and conversation. Of course teaching experience is a major consideration for me when it comes to an instructor, but so is the ability to be patient and encouraging. I have no illusions about the task of learning a new language, and hope that my teacher will be both assertive and encouraging in my learning.

Hi,
*I'm not proficient at all i'm a beginner, but have been wanting to learn Chinese for a long time both Mandarin, and Cantonese. But Mandarin first so that I can be proficient enough to hold a conversation.
*I want to learn chinese for my own desires. And advantually be able to advance my job searches with being able to speak two to three languages.
* I need improvement in all areas of chinese. I want to learn all that I can.
*I would like to dedicate two to three days and 3 to 4 hours to learning chinese. I want to be fluent as soon as possible.
*I would like to have a dedicated teacher that is willing to work hard with me to help me get to my goals. One that has the right chemistry to work with me so that we can both succeed in our joint venture of teaching/lear ning chinese.
