Description |
I am a college student with an active interest in linguistics.
I have taken courses in Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Turkish, and Latin. One of my majors is mathematics and I have done research in mathematical models and patterns in relation to linguistics and demographics. I especially enjoy Norse culture and I would really like to learn at least intermediate level Chinese. I take a full course load but I am dedicated to learning languages.

Description |
I am worse than a beginner. In fact, I have seen the Icelandic alphabet, and I think they are making UP letters. Bleh. My husband has lived in Iceland for over 15 years and guess what? I soon will be too. I need survival skills, such as about 50 down jackets, a large yak and saddle and to speak the native tongue. Barring that, some brennavin (which I have most likely spelled wrong and I have somehow ended up with a bottle of distilled cod instead).
Honestly, I need to learn the language basics as best I can BEFORE I get there so I don't make a fool of myself, or at least so I can do it in the Icelandic tongue.

Description |
I am looking for a teacher of Icelandic in the chicago area. I have been studying on my own for approximately a year now and would like to further my skills. I am a beginner but would make every effort to become fluent. I'm having difficulty in grammer. I can devote as much time as needed as I have a deep repect an love for the language. The ideal teacher would have the ability to help me build a solid foundation in grammer and enjoy teaching as much as I enjoy learning. Icelandic is such a beautiful and ancient language that facinates me. It would be such an honor to me to eventually speak it with the ease of a native. Takk
