Need to start from a beginner's level
Reas ons for wanting to learn the language
1 . Russian
On e of the writers who has made a profound impact on my life is Fyodor Dostoevsky. While I have read most of his key works in English, would want to investigate them in the language in which he wrote - Russian.
2 . Chinese & Tibetan
My current philosophical learnings are toward Mahayana Buddhism and Taoism. Specifically, have been reading Nagarjuna's thesis on Shunyata and the works of Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu and Lieh Tzu. Would like to further my understanding through reading the actual chinese texts(transla ted from Sanskrit by Kumarajiva et al) and tibetan ones on Buddhism.
Also, want to learn chinese from the point of view of it being a pictoral language.
Depending on the kind of teacher I am able to find, would study one of these threee languages

I have no experience with Russian.
I am an actor performing in a production of David Edgar's The Pentecost in November. I am playing a Russian refugee into Bulgaria in the early 90's. I don't speak any English in the play and need to be taught how to pronounce not only my scripted dialogue in Russian but more Russian so that I can convincingly ad lib. extra dialogue with other Russian speaking characters.
