I am a beginner at Hungarian although I really shouldn't be, my father was Hungarian and we now are able to visit family over there, we go about twice a year and I can't speak the language. My Hungarian family all speak English but out of respect for my father and his family I want to be able to speak Hungarian.
I have waited this long, I am now 21, because I have been at school or out with friends a lot, now I feel I have the time to be able to dedicate myself to it as I know just from listening and learning the language is very difficult.
I have studied French, Spanish and Latin at GCSE level, my ability for learning languages was strong then, I have not studied languages for a while though but am sure, as I am determined to succeed, that i will be able to grasp the language soon enough.

I am looking for a teacher to teach my family members Hungarian. 2 Adults, 2 children ages 17; 13.
We are all beginners without knowledge of Hungarian. We would like to learn as I have recently aquired Hungarian citizenship and we as a family will be moving to Hungary within the next 2 years.
We are able to dedicate @ 2hour lessons @ 3 days per week. We require to learn how to speak and understand, read and write. I work as a factory manager in the manufacturing / IT industry, my wife will be studying to teach English as a foreign language, my eldest son will need a sufficent level as he will be starting in the working environment, and my daughter will be school going, although probably at an english school. We need a teacher who is fluent in Hungarian with a good knowledge of English.

Hello! (Actually, Bonjour! I see you also speak French!!) Well, where do I start? I won't give you my whole life's history until later...but suffice it to say, my husband and I have a marketing company in Portland, a software development company in Bucharest, and are opening our headquarters and sales department in Budapest as we speak. Actually, he is in Budapest as I type getting the office all set up. And, from what he tells me, NO ONE there speaks english. So, we have discussed meeting there in November for me to check it out (he say's it's absolutely Gorgeous) I would like to be able to understand a little bit by then, and then continue on, since that is where our HQ are going to be. He will be living there a month at a time for a while, and we may just move out there to be with him...dependi ng on how much I like it in November and how comfortable I feel bringing our brood of babies over there (Rachel-4, Hanna-2.5, Abby-8mos) Nonetheless, I will need to learn the language, and this seems like a better approach than just online learning from a college. It seems much more personalized. ..

I am a complete beginner with no previous experience of speaking Hungarian. However, I enjoy learning and speaking new languages.
I would like to learn Hungarian as part of learning more about my heritage - my grandparents came from Hungary.
I would like to learn to speak and eventually to write Hungarian too. A good understanding of grammar would be important for both.
I envisage having lessons on a weekly basis but would be prepared to spend additional time doing 'homework' and practising.
I would like to learn by direct method and to have a teacher who can teach in this way. I would expect the teacher to be fluent in Hungarian and to have experience of teaching.
