I am a beginner with some knowledge of Portuguese. Already took a beginner's class in Germany, but that was some time ago. Worked with different textbooks, most recently Avenida Brasil. Also been to Brasil on numerous occassions. I am looking for a conversationa l lesson once a week with a Brasilian native speaker.

I am interested in learning Brazilian Portugese because my partner is Brazilian. His family moved here 1 year ago and I would very much like to communicate with them. They are learning English to communicate more effecively and therefore I would like to learn Portugese. I have already taken a level 1 course at Langara College last year and enjoyed it very much. While in this course I studied every night, I wanted to learn quickly, however, when they didn't offer a level 2 class due to class size I became very un-motivated. I have not done any self study since that class and therefore have fallen behind. I feel that I could catch up quickly though. My teacher at Langara was very nice, however, not very motivating. I found that because we didn't have any tests I sometimes found it easy not to do the work. What I am looking for in a teacher is someone that can challenge me in all aspects of the language as well as the culture. It's not easy dating someone from another culture. The amount of time that I would like to spend with a teacher would probably be 2 times a week for 1-1.5 hours a night. I do shift work Monday thru Friday between the hours of 6:30am and 8:00pm so I would need someone that is flexible.

I am not writing this in order to learn but to teach. I am presently learning portuguese and would like to move to Brazil to teach english. I am finding a hard time finding a school that I may work in. I am looking in the cities of Campinas, Florianopolis and Sao Paulo.
