I might consider myself an intermediate speaker. I studied Portuguese in Brazil for a month in college, 101 and 102. I am proficient in Italian and Spanish, which helps me to understand spoken Portuguese. Because of this, my grammar is pretty decent, but my vocabulary is lacking. I am a little rusty, but am a very fast learner when it comes to languages. I love Brazil and have been twice, and hope to go again this summer to visit friends and do volunteer work. I want to learn it purely for conversationa l and travel purposes. I love languages and have studied linguistics and would love to be better at portuguese, but cannot take classes on a regular basis due to my work schedule and being out of town often. Therefore meeting might be 3 times a week for a week or two, then not at all for another week or two.

I am willing to dedicate a considerable amount of time to learning Brazilian Portuguese. I have several friends in Brazil. In Ceara State, Fortaleza, and Florianoplis. I only know very basic phrases, but my pronunciation is terrible. I am interested in learning this wonderfully passionate language. I would like to be fluent in it and not just functional.
