I am a beginner.
I intend to travel to Asia next fall and wish to be able to speak and understand a little Chinese.
It would like to understand basic grammmar as well as to be able to exchange greetings and farewells, basic polite statements, directions, etc.
I am willing to commit 4-6 hours per week(?). My schedule is pretty flexible, I will not be available every week.
I am looking for a native Chinese speaking person who has good teaching skills and a somewhat flexible schedule.
De pending upon schedule, my wife may also be interested in participating .

I work in federal law enforcement. Learning Arabic would be very beneficial. I have learned the general Arabic alphabet, and can slowly pronounce and write words, but have no vocabulary or grammar.

I am interested in learning arabic for career purposes and am at a beginner's level. I do however speak, read, and write Farsi, and, therefore, have a general command of the arabic alphabet. I am entering into my first year at Penn Law and am looking to spend the next year learning arabic. In order to begin taking arabic classes through my law school for the 2005-2006 academic year, I must have achieved at least a graduate level proficiency by that time. I am willing to spend as many hours per week as is necessary to achieve this goal. I am interested in finding a teacher with a flexible schedule, who can easily communicate in English. Most importantly, I need as much structure as is possible, as I don't tend to learn languages well in a relaxed academic environment. In other words, for the sake of my arabic skills, I need the tutoring sessions to be as similar to a class setting as possible, so as to push me to learn. By this I mean, I need set goals for each lesson- things I know I have to have mastered.

I am planning a three or four month trip to Brazil in October to visit my girlfriend who is studying there this year. I would like to learn at least some basic Portuguese befor going. I do not speak any portuguese curently but I have been living in Nicaragua for a year and am more or less fluent in Spanish, I have been told they are very similer. Between mid August and mid October I will have nothing but free time and I would like to put as much as posible into learning this languege so the number of class per week and their duration would depend mostly on the price. I am hoping to find a teacher who is from brazil. from my expeirience in Nicaragua I know that Spanish at least is very diferent in Central America and Spain. I will be living in West Philly and am hoping for something I can bike or take SEPTA to. Thank you very much for your time.

I am an adult seeking to learn Korean at a beginner level. My family is from Korea and I wish to learn the language to be able to communicate with them. I would like to meet 2 or 3 times a week, or whatever the instrustor deems appropiate. I currantly live near Baltimore, MD and may or may not relocate to the Philadelphia area. I would be open the the possibility of learning Korean here in MD as well. I am looking for a instructor idealy who is familiar not only with the language, but the country and customs. Korean as a first language is preferable, but not required.
