After having traveled to Brazil in May 2010 as a part of a study abroad program for my architectural degree I began to study Portuguese through various forms of media (software, audio, literature, etc). Since my trip in 2010, I returned to Brazil again in the summer of 2011 to visit friends and explore potential career opportunities . While I think that my understanding is passed a beginner level, I feel that I need a greater sense of structure and direction in order to further advance my knowledge.
I n general, I dedicate a minimum of 1-2 hours of self study per day, and am looking for a weekly evening course.

I'd like to learn Portuguese in preparation of a trip to Brazil in 2014. I have very little knowledge of that language at this point, so I should be considered as a beginner. I'd like to develop my skills in all areas, ie pronunciation , grammar, vocabulary, conversation, writing, culture... I'd be prepared to spend two hours a week.

I wish to learn Brazilian Portugese because I will be working for a year in Rio de Janeiro, starting mid-summer 2012. I speak French very fluently, and I have learned a little Spanish. I am totally a beginner in Portugese. I don`t need to speak Portugese at work, but I do want to be able to conduct activities of daily life in Portugese, such as getting around, shopping, banking, renting an apartment, and light social conversation. I am prepared to take 4 hours of instruction per week (2 classes of 2 hours weekly), with homework to consolidate the learning.
I can go to the instructor`s office anytime on Thursdays and Fridays, and in the evening (5-7 pm) on Mondays or Tuesdays. The lessons and teacher should provide me with grounding in enough Portugese grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation to be able to speak at a basic level, and permit me to understand when spoken to.
